Application

Guaifenesin is a kind of expectorant.  With oral administration, it can stimulate the reflex of gastric mucosa, and increase the secretion of the gland of the bronchus mucosa, reduce the viscosity of phlegm, and make the phlegm easy to cough up. It can also reduce the odor of sputum, and also has the functions of antitussive, spasmolysis  and anticonvulsion. It is used for the phlegm cough, lung abscess, bronchiectasis and secondary asthma of chronic bronchitis, and it is used with other antitussive and antiasthmatic drugs. Guaifenesin can be absorbed from gastrointestinal tract and reach the peak concentration of blood in 1-3 hours. Most of them are discharged from the intestine, and a small amount of glucuronide complex is excreted rapidly with urine.
